Too Old for Stickers? Never! Sticker Journaling for Grown-Ups Who Still Love to Play
Hello! My name is Janice and I’m the artist and journaling nerd behind Hamletta Studios. I also am a self-proclaimed sticker lover. So combine a love of journaling and stickers and you get sticker journaling!
Yep, it’s totally a thing.
Kind of silly, maybe a little childish, but somehow extremely satisfying and seriously underrated.
It sparks joy in ways I never expected especially as 30-something-year-old grown woman. But the older we get, the less we really care what anyone else thinks, right? It’s okay to lean into my sticker loving self.
Are you anything like me? Were you the kid who collected stickers like they were little pieces of treasure? Traded them with friends? Or maybe you bought Spice Girls bubble gum just to get every single sticker? No? Just me? (If you’re with me on this, drop a comment below—I need to know I’m not alone!)
I was also that kid who’d walk into a Sanrio store and dive face-first into the sticker aisles, buying sticker books and hoarding stickers like precious gems.
If you’ve ever collected stickers for “something special” that never happened, or stared at a blank notebook pretending you’re being productive—welcome to the club!
There are literally millions of us who obsess over stickers, notebooks, and basically anything paper and stationery.
Whether you’re a daily journaler or just wondering why grown people are fawning over little stickers, sticker journaling is one of my favorite ways to slow down and make something beautiful out of a blank page.
Here at Hamletta Studios, I don’t believe in perfection. I don’t think it truly exists. I’m all about embracing imperfections through scribbles, leaning into quirks, and doing whatever feels right for you.
Your journal doesn’t have to be neat, useful, or even finished. It just needs to serve you where you are right now and that is more than enough.
🐷 What Is Sticker Journaling?
Sticker journaling is basically what it sounds like—slapping stickers on your journal to make it look less boring.
It could be as simple as tossing some sparkly stars onto your planner, or using themed stickers to help your brain untangle stuff during those deep journaling sessions.
It’s not exactly profound. But somehow, it makes the page feel alive and actually makes you want to come back and do it again tomorrow. Building a habit is everything. If stickers are the thing that get you to show up to your journal every day, then stick away. That totally counts.
That’s the delightful magic of sticker journaling. Your brain gets a little breathing room, and suddenly you’re not worrying if your page is “aesthetic” enough.
The stickers take care of that part. You just focus on the thoughts, the scribbles, the feelings. Let the stickers do the decorating. Let the stickers do the beautifying and let them inspire you!
💖 Why People Love It
Still wondering if sticker journaling is your thing? Here’s why a bunch of us are totally here for this awesome hobby:
It’s a creative outlet—no stress, just sticking stuff wherever feels right. Like, yes, you’re adulting but you’re also allowed to immerse yourself in cuteness overload.
It’s surprisingly mindful. Slowing down to place some stickers on a page allows you to slow down and use your creative brain.
Memory-keeping magic. Your journal becomes like a low-key scrapbook of feels, moods, and those “wait, what even happened?” days.
It’s also just too darn cute. Surround yourself with stuff that makes you say, “Yasss, queen,” like our girl Ms. Hamletta always does. 😉
🎀 How to Start Your Own Sticker Journal
Here’s all you need to begin:
A journal or notebook (blank, lined, dotted—whatever feels good)
Stickers you love (Hamletta Studios characters are here to help!)
Pens, markers, washi tape (optional, but fun!)
Tip: You don’t need a plan! Let your mood guide you. Some days I create spreads around affirmations, other days I just decorate a to-do list.
Here are a few layout ideas:
Weekly spreads with little character cheerleaders
Mood trackers using smiley (or sleepy!) stickers
Affirmation pages with floral borders and encouraging words
Memory spreads with space to reflect and doodle
An Affirmation for Sticker Lovers
"I’m totally into my stickers, and I’m not even gonna apologize for it."
Look, I know it’s technically a bunch of tiny paper blobs with glue on the back—but also?? It’s kind of my favorite thing. At this point, I’ve stopped trying to justify it. Stickers make my pages better. They make my brain happier. They remind me I don’t have to be serious all the time.
So if you’ve ever hidden your sticker obsession like some weird little secret… don’t. Just say it with your whole chest (or, you know, your journal). This is your official sticker permission slip.
🌟 Stickers That Support Artists? Yes, Please!
One of the best parts of sticker journaling (aside from, you know, stickers) is that it’s actually a really easy way to support small businesses and real human artists.
Every time you buy a sheet from a tiny shop like Hamletta Studios, you’re not just getting something cute for your notebook—you’re helping someone (hi, me) keep the dream alive. That dream involves things like paying for more art supplies, surviving the algorithm, and continuing to make weird, joyful things that hopefully make you smile.
In a world where AI art is popping up everywhere, supporting real, small-batch, heart-filled art matters more than ever. Your money helps actual people keep creating.
Your journal ends up being more than just pretty pages. It’s a little gallery of artists you love. Every sticker has a story. Not just yours, but theirs too.
Whether you’re journaling to vent, plan, spiral, or just slap something shiny on the page and call it a day—those stickers are doing double duty. Decorating your life and backing a creative community.
Shop small.
