The Many Faces of Me: A Creative Art Journal Prompt to Honor Our Feelings

This week, we’re exploring the importance of honoring our feelings as they ebb and flow. Emotions are like waves—sometimes gentle and soothing, other times intense and overwhelming.

When powerful emotions like anger or anxiety arise, it’s natural to feel swept up in their intensity. These moments can lead to negative thoughts about ourselves, making it harder to stay grounded. But what if, instead of resisting these feelings, we allowed ourselves to acknowledge and express them? To truly embrace self-love, we must understand that emotions are temporary—they pass like clouds in the sky—and they don’t define who we are.

With that in mind, this week’s affirmation invites us to reflect and honor our emotional journey.

I honor my feelings as they come and go.

This week’s affirmation, “I honor my feelings as they come and go,” reminds us that our emotions are valid and deserve our attention. Feelings, whether joyful or heavy, are fleeting guests in our lives—not permanent fixtures. By acknowledging them without judgment, we create space for healing, understanding, and growth.

Let’s turn this reflection into creative expression! This week’s art journal prompt, “The Many Faces of Me,” invites you to visually explore and express your emotions.

Our emotions tell the story of our days—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. No matter how they show up, every feeling deserves a moment of recognition.

Once you've printed out the worksheet, have fun coloring in the emojis! I used regular printer paper and watercolor pencils, then went over the colors with a wet brush to create a charming, crinkly watercolor effect.

I used the blank emoji template to draw a few of my Hamletta Studios characters because they bring me so much joy. Feel free to get creative and draw anything you'd like to complement the emojis already included!

Next, I grabbed my journal and used markers to create a simple pattern to fill the page. I drew tiny blue dots and added yellow sparkles for a playful touch.

I hope you carve out a moment this week to explore this creative art journal prompt and honor the fleeting nature of our feelings.

After making the art, it’s important to also sit down and write down some thoughts in words on paper. Today’s written journal prompt encourages us to sit down and process the emotions we have felt in the last week and how they influenced the decisions we’ve made.

Reflect & Write

Behind the Faces: A Look Inside

What emotions have I experienced most frequently this week, and how have they influenced my thoughts, actions, or interactions?

Are there any emotions I’ve been avoiding or suppressing? What might those emotions be trying to teach me?

It’s valuable to take a moment to reflect on how the emotions you experienced this week may have influenced the choices you made.

Annie barely hanging in there after a rough week of ups and downs.

I’ve been riding waves of emotions myself—ranging from the spark of inspiration to create art to the weight of existential dread while scrolling through my news feed. These moments have reminded me of the importance of recognizing what lies within my control and what doesn’t. When anxiety about the world sets in, I turn inward, focusing on the things I can impact in meaningful ways.

For me, this might look like choosing a meal that brings joy or finding ways to support my community and uplift those in need. When I catch myself suppressing an emotion, I see it as a signal to preserve my energy for what truly matters.

I hope this week’s prompts provided you with some insight and inspiration. Honoring our feelings is an essential step toward self-love, helping us remember that while our emotions may feel overwhelming, they are temporary and will pass.

By embracing these emotions and channeling them into creative expression, you are not only respecting your inner self but also moving closer to personal growth and self-discovery.
